You could be involved in the construction and/or refurbishment of production plants, warehouses, laboratories and office buildings. You could work in bulk chemical manufacturing, where it is necessary to maintain hazardous areas. You may even work in the aseptic manufacture of specialized drugs in highly contained environments.
Another avenue to consider is the packing of many types of drugs for the customer, dealing with the day-to-day operational activities, and the maintenance and improvement of existing assets.

The engineers and staff in AstraZeneca’s Global Engineering function are extending their operations into emerging markets and becoming more global in their outlook. The function is divided into two key teams.
- Global Engineering Technology, which provides pharmaceutical engineering and technology direction and expertise in support of new investments and AZ’s current operations. Global Engineering Technology is organized into teams that concentrate on a particular aspect of pharmaceutical technology (such as process technology or packing and device technology).
- Global Engineering Projects, which delivers major projects such as the opening of new sites and expansions of existing facilities, working closely with Project Management and Functional Engineering. It focuses its efforts on projects greater than $10m in value and is responsible for functional engineering on those projects.
